Paper quilling is one of those crafts that looks incredible in your hands and completely flat in a photo. You roll hundreds of thin paper strips into coils, pinch them into teardrops and scrolls, and build a picture with actual depth — then the camera smashes all of it into one smooth surface. Backgrounds and framing matter more than you'd think
The surface behind the piece quietly decides how well the conversion reads. A busy or dark background gives the tool mixed signals about what is art and what is table. Use a plain, light surface — white or pale neutral paper, or a cutting mat — and make sure the whole piece sits inside the frame with a little breathing room.
